When It’s Raining in Niagara…

Before heading out for vacation, most of us work hard to ensure we have all our ducks in a row. We pack with care, making sure all our carry-ons are TSA compliant. We double-check reservations, and alert the post office to hold our mail. We do everything within our power to guarantee that while we are away from home experiencing another place, we have the time of our lives.

Except not everything is within our power. Luggage gets lost. Monsoon-like rains sometimes fall all day and all night. Flights are delayed, and small, insignificant colds blossom into full-grown illnesses right as you check into your hotel. These and other travel headaches can put a damper on even the best-laid plans, but at least when you come to Niagara, a bit of rain won’t be able to keep you from having a great time. Here are just a handful of ways you can play in Niagara when the skies are stormy and gray.

CPblog5The Butterfly Conservatory

Just because you’re being kept indoors by the rain is no reason to forego experiencing the natural world in all its splendor. At the Butterfly Conservatory, you can wander among colorful butterflies from all over the world.

Over 2,000 butterflies representing 45 species flit and float throughout exotic plants and flowers, and if you dress colorfully, you’ll attract plenty of them to you. You can even watch the stages of a butterfly’s development in the Emergence Room where caterpillars spin cocoons and emerge as stunning, winged creatures.

The Casino

The Fallsview Casino instantly renders any type of “bad” weather moot. Sit down at one of over 3,000 slot machines and video poker machines that let you bid anywhere from a penny to $100. There are also plenty of table games to try your luck at, including Craps, Roulette, Baccarat, Poker, Black Jack, and more. If you’re a serious Poker player — or you’d like to be — you can step into the Fallsview’s Poker Room, which is the largest of its kind in all of Ontario.

From Texas Hold’em to Omaha, Poker is king in the Poker Room. Should you want to take a break from the cards, you can relax and watch one of the nine televisions conveniently located throughout the space.

CPblog6Musical Dinner Theatre

There’s musical dinner theatre and then there’s musical dinner theatre, and in Niagara Falls, when the rain is forcing you to stay indoors, you’ll be glad we have the latter. Through April 9th, enjoy the fun of “Into The Groove,” a celebration of music and culture from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s.

Starting April 22nd, you can revel in one of Niagara’s longest running classics, the “Oh, Canada, Eh?” dinner musical theatre show that’s entertained almost a million people over the years. Filled with jokes and songs, “Oh, Canada, Eh?” features Canadian music, culture, and self-deprecating stereotypes. Both shows include a delicious five-course, family-style meal.

So, come to the place where even a lot of rain won’t ruin your good time. From butterflies and gambling to excellent musical theatre, Niagara Falls is a place you can have fun no matter what the weather is doing.
