New Year’s Eve is only a few days away, and this weekend there are plenty of amazing events and attractions to check out in Niagara Falls that will make for a memorable start to 2018.

Free Concert in Queen Victoria Park

Niagara Falls’ annual free New Year’s Eve celebration is happening on December 31st starting at 8pm in Queen Victoria Park, featuring live entertainment from Marianas Trench, Simple Plan, Jess Moskaluke, and James Barker Band. The outdoor celebration will also feature great food and drink options, an outdoor licensed area, and a spectacular fireworks show at midnight to ring in 2018.

Icestravaganza at Fort George National Historic Site

On Saturday December 30th, Fort George National Historic Site in Niagara-on-the-Lake is hosting a special Icetravaganza event, which is the fort’s Canada 150 wrap up party.

Visitors can check out the Vintage Hotels & Parks Canada skating rink located outside the fort all day to enjoy free ice skating, face painting, interactive games, train and carriage rides into the fort, ice maple taffy, photo cut outs and more. And inside the fort, visitors can experience a soldier dress up and photo area, period games, heritage hot chocolate, musket firing demonstrations, period music, a virtual reality experience, Indigenous games and exhibit, the Franklin Expedition Traveling Exhibit, and more. There will also be candle light tours, a Great Canadian Lumberjack Show, Canadian Raptor Conservatory Birds of Prey show, marshmallow roasting, and a Canada 150 Film Series.

Journey Behind the Falls

A great attraction to check out this weekend is Journey Behind the Falls, which is a family friendly destination where you can explore the 130-year-old tunnel system that runs directly behind the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. More than 168,000 cubic meters of water flow over the brink of the Horseshoe Falls every minute and this one-of-a-kind attraction puts you behind the falling water and up close to one of the most beautiful natural waterfalls in the world.
